Intracellular Delivery
Ethosomes can be tailored to improve the delivery of a number of molecules to the cellular membranes. Delivery of active agents through biological membrane by means of vesicular systems has become one of the most important research areas in recent years. Because of its physiological homeostatic function, the cell membrane is a barely permeable barrier. Most of the molecules of interest are unable to penetrate into cells, and intracellular delivery is difficult to achieve.
Ethosomal carriers are a new approach in intracellular delivery.
