Characteristics
Ethosomes were shown to entrap molecules with various physicochemical characteristics: hydrophobic, hydrophilic and amphiphilic. Using fluorescent molecules, the probes were seen throughout the entire vesicle. This is most likely due to the lamellarity of the Ethosomes together with the presence of ethanol. These results were in contrast to those using classic liposomes in which the location of probes was dependent upon the hydrophilicity of the probe hydrophobic in the lipid bilayers and hydrophilic in the hydrophilic core.
